A stakeholder workshop was held in NCPHA, Sofia, Bulgaria on November 10, 2017. The meeting was attended by NCPHA experts on the issues of NCD's, experts from Ministry of Health and representatives from the 28 Regional Health Inspections in the country.
The conference "Managing Frailty Today for Tomorrow" was held at Brdo pri Kranju in Slovenia on November 22nd 2017. The conference has been jointly organised by the National Institute of Public Health, the Slovenian Ministry of Health, and the World Health Organization. The event presented initial findings and results from the Joint Action Project on the prevention of frailty (ADVANTAGE-JA). The Ministry of Health in Slovenia follows with high attention the progresses made by the JA.
The ADVANTAGE JA Expert Panel meeting, was held on the 25th and 26th September 2017 at the Llatzeret de Maó, headquarters of the XXVIII edition of the Public Health Summer School of Menorca, Spain.
The meeting was part of ADVANTAGE JA implementation activities. Participants discussed the State of Art draft reports 1 prepared by WP partners and which were peer reviewed by the EP and on the ways of convincing policy makers to address frailty prevention and assessment in Europe.
On the 8th of June 2017, the second Steering Committee (SC) meeting of the Joint Action ADVANTAGE was hosted in Edinburgh by NHS Lanarkshire, the third largest NHS health board in Scotland. On the 9th of June a Study visit to learn about models of care for older people in Scotland and to share lessons from the coordination of the JA on Dementia was organized.
The SC is the board responsible of supporting the Coordinator, and thus their feed-back is needed and welcome to improve the quality and richness of the JA. A total of 12 participants (representing the work packages (WP) leaders and co-leaders) and 2 secretaries attended. Participants were actively involved in reporting progress on the JA activities. The work done towards the State of Art document was discussed. The drafts will be reviewed by the Expert Panel (EP) and discussed during the meeting in Mao on 25-26 September.

How will European citizens benefit from the results of the joint actions?
Among the health issues that European citizens are concerned about are disabilities that are associated with ageing. This concern has motivated the European Commission and other European institutions, such as the Council of Europe, and many of the Member States to address it.
